Skylight and Glass Roof Blinds and Awnings

Skylights and glass roofs are a fantastic feature for homes and businesses, however even the best designed overhead glazing will require a sun control system, in order to provide the space with privacy and control heat gain. SCS supplies a range of interior and exterior blind and awning solutions to suit skylights and glass roofs.

Skylights and glass roofs can be designed with suitable glass products to control heat transfer, however in extreme cases (e.g., summer heat) it is important to pair these products with a well-suited sun-control system. Glass roofs and skylights can be an excellent source of natural light and passive heat in winter; however, it is important to ensure that the heat gain is managed in the summer-time and excessive daylight and glare is controlled.

SCS supplies a range of internal blind options and external awnings in order to control the amount of heat gained through direct sunlight and provide desirable design options. Our product range includes a variety of standardised products (e.g., Velux) that suit their particular system and also custom-made blinds and awnings from our German supplier.

All our products can be manually operated, crank operated or motorised (electric or solar), to ensure ease of operation. There are also a range of smart systems, such as wind and sun sensors, to ensure the product is protected and the indoor environment is managed, even when you are not occupying the space. Our products can also come with compatibility for home automation, to seamlessly integrate with your home or office set up.

Fabric blinds are mainly used for sun protection for internal solutions for glass roofs and skylights. There are a variety of different fabric types (block out and light filtering) and colours possible for interior blinds. Our most popular blind type is the honeycomb blind system, as they come in a variety of finishes and they also provide additional thermal insulation to the glass area. Honeycomb blinds come in a range of opening types, such as manual, crank or motorised.

Exterior conservatory awnings are a desirable solution for glass roofs, as they can be integrated seamlessly with the design and hidden from sight. An exterior sun control system is ideal for maintaining a stable internal temperature, as the fabric awning stops the heat before it comes into contact with the glass.

Similar to the interior solutions, there are many different material types and colours to pick from to suit any design. External systems are often motorised on either a wall switch or remote operated. External awnings are typically supplied with wind and sun sensors for smart operation, protecting the product and internal temperature, when you are not in the building.
